Where’s your favorite place to hang online?

The comments section of my blog (I have the awesomest readers) and I do loves me some Instagram

What inspired you/kicked your ass into going full-time with your coaching business?

I built my coaching practice up while I was working full-time as a six-figure Corporateer. After about a year I negotiated a 4 day week and managed to somehow keep many balls in the air for almost 18 months before having a big ugly snot-filled overwhelmy meltdown one Sunday afternoon. Mr P and I decided it was time.

What was the biggest obstacle holding you back from growing your business?

*adopts movie voice-over voice* In a world.. where there are a squillion coaches, the biggest obstacle was really believing that I was offering something original and thoughtful that would help my clients.

Why did you sign up with Satori? What benefits have you seen?

I love that it is specifically for coaches – and it does everything very very well. I have saved thousands of pounds in all the admin I am not doing! I love how Satori just makes the whole sign-up process easy for clients – they get to choose the session times to suit them and they get the session reminders and invoices on time. I’ts brilliant.

What’s been your best source of getting new clients?

Without a doubt, its been sharing my own story on my blog. I know when I’m looking for support or help from someone, I don’t choose the person with the shiniest website – I look for someone I connect with. I think my coaching clients feel the same.

What’s your most popular service?

My 1:1 coaching spots have been booked out consistently for the last two years which blows my mind!

What would your perfect day look like?

If there is a way of combining waking up at the beach, meeting an elephant, a few hours in the Bodleian Library, and fish tacos, I’m in :)

Behind The Scenes: Kira Sabin

Today we go behind the scenes with the awesome Kira Sabin and discover how finding her voice helped her business grow.

Name: Kira Sabin

Where in the world are you: Madison, Wisconsin (America’s Dairyland)

Where’s your favorite place to hang online?

Because of the biz, I do spend a lot of time on Facebook and Instagram, however, I do spend an embarrassing amount on Buzzfeed. I get sucked in every time.

What inspired you/kicked your ass into going full-time with your coaching business?

I realized early on that I absolutely had a passion for having the bigger conversations about love and was good at it. However, I also really sucked working for other people. The part-time work that I didn’t like motivated me to hustle in my business.

What was the biggest obstacle holding you back from growing your business?

I feel like the obstacles have changed over the years. Everything from logistics to mindset. But I think the biggest growth has happened as I have found my voice in my brand and got clear on how to make the abstract of my business (finding love) into tangibles.

Why did you sign up with Satori? What benefits have you seen?

I just needed to streamline my new client process. Appointments, invoices and documents were getting lost via email. This really helped me organize that whole process so I had more time for coaching.

What’s been your best source of getting new clients?

I wish I felt like there was one identifiable source, but I just don’t. I feel that it is an ongoing process of guest blogging/podcasts, building trust through emails and my podcast and fresh marketing ideas like worldwide scavenger hunts.

What’s your most popular service?

My online membership group The League of Adventurous Singles. One part smart conversations about love and one part getting out of your comfort zone to build confidence and meet new people.

What would your perfect day look like?

Probably being in one of my favorite places (Italy, Greece, Costa Rica) and a day filled with ocean, friends, great food, wine and a little bit of coaching.. .because I love talking about love :)

Kira Sabin is a certified life coach, troop leader of love for League of Adventurous Singles, Huffpo blogger, speaker, cheese lover, adventurer, podcaster, story collector, seven layers of ridiculous and your new best friend.

Behind The Scenes: Amanda Jane Daley

Today we chat to Amanda Jane Daley on how she built her multiple 6-figure coaching practice.

Name: Amanda Jane Daley

Where in the world are you: Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia

Business motto: Consistent Imperfect Action

Where’s your favorite place to hang online?

In my Healthy Wealthy Society Facebook group or one of my UPswing Mastermind private groups.

What inspired you/kicked your ass into going full-time with your coaching business?

After 15 years in Online Advertising I was burnt out and struggling with Adrenal Fatigue. Amongst the many healing modalities I was using to try to ‘fix myself’, I was studying to be a Health Coach and one day decided to take the leap, change my career and become a Health Coach. Seeing how my own health and happiness changed radically from this change of lifestyle, I became even more passionate about helping others to do the same for themselves. It certainly wasn’t easy in the early days, but now that I have built a thriving coaching practice I can honestly say it’s the best decision I ever made.

What was the biggest obstacle holding you back from growing your business?

Me! I had no confidence at all in working for myself and thought that if I spent enough time blogging, clients would magically find me. I had no idea that there was so much I could learn about online business and I blamed myself for not getting many clients until I realized this was just a business skillset I had yet to learn. Once I learnt, I flew!

Why did you sign up with Satori? What benefits have you seen?

I was looking for a way to manage the admin side of my coaching business and Satori was a one-stop solution. If I had to choose one life-saving feature it would be the ability for my clients to manage their own scheduling direct from their contracts and into my calendar, but I also love having the contracts, payment and client notes all in one place.

What’s been your best source of getting new clients?

When I started out I found I had to create ways to get in front of my ideal clients – my favorite of which was hosting my Healthy High Teas. Today I love Facebook ads for their ability to target so effectively. I have a guide on 10 ways to get clients as a coach which can be found here.

What’s your most popular service?

My UPswing Mastermind program. It’s a 6 month journey which guides coaches through the entire business process to making $5k per month (and beyond).

What would your perfect day look like?

I’ve designed my life pretty much around my ideal days and it looks something like this: A cup of almond milk chai and brekkie at my local café, a walk along the beach, home to coach clients in my UPswing Mastermind and then some admin before lunch. After lunch I either work on upcoming business projects at a local café or catch up with a girlfriend (sometimes this is combined as a working date). Late afternoon I workout with my personal trainer or head to yoga and then I spend the evenings with my husband – either out at a local restaurant or chilled out watching TV on the sofa.

Behind The Scenes: Mara Glatzel

Today we chat to the wise and wonderful Mara Glatzel. She takes us behind the scenes of her successful coaching practice, from how she uses Satori to how she learned that doing things her own way was the key to growing her business.

Name: Mara Glatzel

Where in the world are you: Wellfleet, MA, USA

Business motto: Keep your eyes on your on paper.

Where’s your favorite place to hang online?

These days I am more than a little a bit obsessed with Instagram. I’ve found that after years of crafting wordy blog posts connecting through snapshots and captions from my daily life has been really compelling for me. I am a visual person, so filling my feed to the brim with gorgeous images feels really good compared to the constant scrolling through status updates or tweets.

Also, from a business perspective, it allows potential clients to get to know me better, increasing the feeling of trust between us before they begin working with me directly. Through sharing these moments from my daily life, they are able to experience the fact that I strive to walk my walk, each day. Overall, it’s such a cozy, gorgeous platform for connection.

What inspired you/kicked your ass into going full-time with your coaching business?

Honestly, the leap from delicious hobby to full throttle business was motivated by having bills to pay. I made the leap from part-time to full-time about three years ago, and found that once my safety blanket was pulled away, I started to get really creative with how I showed up online and what I was able to create for my audience. This type of “leap and the new will appear” tactic isn’t one works for everyone, but it felt exhilarating to begin taking my work seriously. It required me to deeply trust in your own ability to follow through, and pushed me to start talking about my work in a different way, actually marketing my offerings out loud instead of in whispers, and adding in additional income streams to support me between bigger projects.

What was the biggest obstacle holding you back from growing your business?

In the beginning, I struggled with feeling as though there were all of these rules that I needed to learn and follow in order to be successful. I voraciously took every class I could get my hands on, desperate to hire an “expert” to “fix my business”. But, each of these lessons took me farther and farther away from my own truths and creativity. I was trying to grow my business by making my business just like everyone else’s… which really didn’t (and doesn’t) work. Once I started giving myself permission to begin doing things my own way, I started carving out my own little corner of the internet, and my business started to grow in earnest. I still take classes and work with experts, but I work to integrate ideas into my own ideas for my business model instead of assuming that they will know my business better than I do.

Why did you sign up with Satori? What benefits have you seen?

I have been using Satori since the very beginning of my coaching business. When I first started having to negotiate client information, scheduling, and invoicing, I was desperate for a tool that seamlessly did it all for me and was really pleased to find Satori. (Especially after trying just about everything else on the market. Wink.) Since then, Satori just keeps getting better and better. Once I had it set up, I found it really easy to guide someone through the quick steps so that I can focus on getting down to the really good stuff… our work together.

What’s been your best source of getting new clients?

I am lucky to get most of my new clients through referrals and word of mouth. However, I also work to direct much of my traffic to my weekly newsletter, a community that I nurture with weekly, fresh content. I find that through serving this community with consistent attention and love, I am easily able to fill up spots in programs and 1:1 work.

What’s your most popular service?

At the moment, I am primarily coaching 1:1 through a yearlong program for women called Gather made up of ten women who are working with me both privately and within a group setting. Outside of Gather, I run e-courses on distinct topics that come up again and again in my 1:1 work. My most popular class is called The Deep Exhale – 28 days of learning how to rest and make space for meeting your needs… without sacrificing your ambition or desire to show up fully in your life.
